DESCRIPTION:Join us and members from West Lothian Bike Library for a free leisurely ride through Bathgate and West Livingston\, stopping to learn about wild spaces and the communities supporting them. \nPerfect for: Adults or families with experienced child cyclists\, nature lovers\, leisurely riders with their own bike. \nThe ride will start and end near Meadow Park\, Bathgate\, stop at next at Little Boghead Nature Park\, then Easter Breich Wood\, then Almond Valley\, Then Barracks Farm Field\, Seafield Reserve and back to Meadow Park. DESCRIPTION:Learn how to plan\, fund\, and deliver renewable energy projects to benefit your community \n\n\n\n\nThis event is organised by Community Energy Scotland and WLCAN to help community organisations to take the next step toward energy-efficient\, low-carbon community spaces. It takes place at West Lothian College’s Skills Centre for Sustainable Living\, also known as the Eco House. This training facility helps to train builders in sustainable construction skills and the event will include a tour of the house. \nThis free workshop is for community leaders and active members either curious or already exploring opportunities to install measures such as heat pumps\, solar panels\, battery storage and wind turbines. Come along and help us plant a new orchard at the Eastfield Development Centre in Fauldhouse! \nHelp WLCAN and partners plant fruit trees in the community. We’ll be joining Fauldhouse & Breich Valley Community Development Trust and Woodland Trust Scotland for an afternoon of planting at Eastfield Development Centre. SUMMARY:National Emergency Briefing Film
DESCRIPTION:This film provides a valuable and timely opportunity to discuss the important matter of the climate and nature crisis within our own local community\, especially given the current media coverage of the wildfires in Britain and Europe that have devastated nature\, wildlife\, homes and livelihoods. The film is hosted by Chris Packham and presents the findings of experts on various aspects of the climate emergency that the public know very little about. The film is an attempt to address this knowledge gap\, provide expert\, evidence-based information on the matter\, and create an opportunity for discussion of what the climate emergency means for us here in Scotland\, and what can be done about it. \nThe Area Commander of the West Lothian Fire Service will be attending the screening\, as will a local councillor. The film will be presented by Mike Harrower from Greenpeace\, Edinburgh and he will lead an informal discussion after the screening.
