Central Scotland Green Network (CSGN) ‘Growing Food Together’ Fund is once again offering a cash boost to community growing projects across the whole of Scotland. Funded by the Scottish Government, projects can apply for part of the £100k fund that aims to foster community engagement in growing and learning about food, as well as promoting healthy eating and outdoor exercise.
The fund issues awards to various community projects including those benefiting the environment. The next available round of funding will be reopening soon. Proposed projects must align with one or more of the pillars of Edinburgh Airport’s Greater Good sustainability strategy.
Submissions are now open for the Parks4Life community fund, suitable for organisations like those operating as ‘friends of’ groups. Grants of between £500 and £1,500 are potentially available, managed by Greenspace Scotland and MyPark Scotland. Applications are recommended as soon as possible, with submissions deadline overall by 30 August.
This supports the improvement of local path networks within and between communities, making it easier for people to walk, wheel or cycle for everyday journeys. Funding of between £10,000 – £100,000 is available, with 30% match funding required (15% can be in kind). Applications can be made throughout the year. However, the budget is restricted for each financial year (April-March). Successful projects will have 12 months from the time an offer is made to complete their project.
Action Earth provides grants to help urban communities to respond to the climate crisis. Funded by NatureScot, these grants support volunteers of all ages, backgrounds and abilities in practical outdoor activities in cities, towns and villages. Activities should emphasise local nature enrichment and biodiversity improvements: note they can’t support applications mainly about food growing. Projects must be completed by 31 January 2025.
