Artlink Edinburgh and the Lothians.
Supported by the Eco Development Fund
A space in the grounds of a church was identified as the ideal site to begin a community growing area in Boghall, supported by the Eco Development Fund.
The project in the grounds of Boghall Parish Church, with a steering group consisting of Boghall Community Wing, Boghall Primary Schools, Boghall Parish Church Outreach Team, the local community and Artlink Edinburgh and Lothians.
The space will be open to everyone who has a keen interest in sharing growing skills, promoting local green space and growing and developing a stronger sense of local community.
The very cold spring held back progress somewhat, but it didn’t stop ground being broken, with a digger out to start prepping the site. “Weather is an issue but this did nor deter us in getting out and beginning to shape how we want the space to be. The local community have been very supportive and positive feedback towards supporting and getting directly involved in the project.”
“The funding grant has given the project a great start and impetus to get things moving just in time for the weather improving and the community to actively getting involved. We have organised a ‘join in’ day on the 18th April which we targeted at local schools’ parents associations and individual parents.”
The group has worked closely with the schools’ family link officers, who have targeted parents most in need of involvement. “We will use this event as a get to know you session and get a consensus about how we want to structure and involve the community in the project.”
