Don’t Bin It, Win It!

Calling young content creators

Love videos and getting creative? We have just the thing! We’re launching a competition this May with West Lothian Youth Action Project for young people aged 13+ to make a short video based on circular economy. This can be upcycling furniture or other items, making clothes or anything with textiles. Things for wearing, using or decorating, inside or out – use your imagination!

Five West Lothian high schools are already taking part. You’ll send your video using a form and no personal profile or information will be visible. The competition is open from early summer 2026 (closing date TBC) and there will be a PRIZE for the best video – a £50 voucher to spend!

Enter through your school or any youth organisation, as long as it’s based in West Lothian. We’ll provide a form for you to download your video, which we’ll then post for you.

Are you aged 14-29 and interested in getting your hands dirty with real, practical local community climate action projects?

We can help you develop your skills to help improve your job prospects.

Maybe you have a great climate action idea or project you’d like to take forward and need some funding.

Interested?

Here are some possibilities for you to come and talk to us about:

Be part of a new Youth Climate Action Network – with a budget to take forward your ideas.
Practical projects in local communities to get your teeth into – outdoors and indoors.
Use our climate education kit – games and equipment available to borrow, or we can deliver for you.
Sign up for a youth Climate Fresk workshop to better understand the causes, effects, actions and emotions regarding climate change. No knowledge required.
Project support and development for school pupils, college and university students.
Presentation or talk to your group on any climate theme
If you’re over 16 you can join our WLCAN Hub board to provide your unique perspective, help shape our work and boost your CV.
We can provide job shadowing, work placement, mentoring or training (e.g. with the Carbon Literacy Project). Expenses paid.

We can work with young people of any age unless otherwise specified.
